Point Loma Seafoods first opened its doors back in 1963. Kelly Christianson and his wife Marie began selling fish out of a small store with one small display case. Kelly set exacting standards of quality and freshness, so much so that only the finest catches were kept for sale. Later, Point Loma Seafoods branched out and began selling hot food, an expansion that was based on the simplest idea: sell the freshest fish, serve it hot on the freshest sourdough bread with homemade tarter sauce. From there, the slogan "The freshest thing in town" was coined. Today, Point Loma Seafoods sell homemade chowders, and the freshest shrimp and crabmeat available in the local market.
Point Loma Seafood's serves hot food from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and on Sundays, 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The fish is fresh and lightly breaded, not battered, and fried in cholesterol free soybean oil. All recipes are homemade including the tarter and cocktail sauces.
Plates are served with fries, slaw and lemon and tarter or cocktail sauce. In addition to seafood meals and fresh seafood, Point Loma Seafoods also sells party platters, sushi and filleting and smoking services for your catch of the day.
Visit Point Loma Seafoods at 2805 Emerson Street in the Shelter Island neighborhood of the Big Bay or online and experience “The Freshest Thing in Town.”
