The Port of San Diego is a public benefit corporation and regional government agency. Created in 1962 by an act of the California legislature, the Port manages San Diego harbor and administers the public lands along San Diego Bay.
Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners Appoints New President/CEO The Board of Port Commissioners appointed retired U.S. Coast Guard Vice Admiral Charles D. Wurster as President/CEO of the San Diego Unified Port District, the Board announced. Wurster begins tomorrow. New Port President to be Announced and New Port Commissioner to be Sworn in The Board of Port Commissioners on Monday will announce the new President/CEO of the Port of San Diego and former San Diego City Council member Scott Peters will be sworn in as the Board's newest commissioner. Notice of Preparation for Proposed Sunroad Harbor Island Hotel EIR The San Diego Unified Port District has prepared a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Sunroad Harbor Island Hotel. Comments regarding environmental concerns will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on January 20, 2009. Ring in the New Year with Fireworks on the Big Bay The San Diego Port Tenants Association is giving San Diegans a gift to ring in the New Year - an incredible fireworks show on San Diego Bay. Green is the Theme for Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade The Port of San Diego has another reason to celebrate the color green. Not only did the Port launch a "Green Port" environmental campaign this year with initiatives that help reduce water use and improve air quality, the color plays a big role in the 18^th Annual Port of San Diego Big Bay Balloon Parade. The parade takes place at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 29 in front of the County Administration Building on Harbor Drive. Port to Refurbish 30 Public Restrooms in Parks and other Tideland Locations Beginning this month, the restrooms in Port of San Diego parks, at the piers and other public areas will be getting a makeover. Some of the public restrooms were built more than 40 years ago and are in need of refurbishment.
