San Diego Bay has played host to many historical events. Without the Big Bay and its peaceful, moderate climate, California may have developed without the influence of Father Junípero Serra’s Spanish mission system. And without San Diego Bay, pioneer aviators such as Curtiss, Lindbergh, Fleet and Ryan would never have given San Diego its aerospace and defense legacy.

You can visit the sites where these and many other history-making events occurred. See the San Diego Bay map for points of interest.
