Shelter Island – San Diego’s Hawaiian Isle

Big Bay Gem Shelter Island Shoreline Park PDF Print E-mail

Shelter Island Shoreline Park - Enjoy it Your Way

Shelter Island’s Shoreline Park spans most of the mile-long, secluded, Hawaiin style resort island on San Diego Bay. The bayside island's attractions include a large grass park, picnic benches and shade trees; ideal for bay-side fishing, enjoying a picnic, sitting back to enjoy the scenery or reading a good book.

Facing the bay, families and friends can enjoy easy access to a large boat ramp, sandy beach and pier fishing. The small beach also includes a few fire pits for those light-night bonfires.

Shoreline Park is the perfect place to observe the serenity and beauty of San Diego Bay. It has become a favorite place for many to run, walk or jog on Shelter Island. Enjoy Shelter Island in your own way. Make it a family day or bring your friends out to play.

Big Bay Gem Cow-a-Bunga PDF Print E-mail

Get a Bunga Pizza at Cow-a-Bunga

There is so much to see and do on the Big Bay, but this gem stands out with homemade creations and down home hospitality. Cow-a-Bunga, located on the Pier Plaza waterfront in Imperial Beach, is a family-owned restaurant that features the finest and freshest beverages and ice creams. Nicknamed a micro-ice creamery and espresso bar, Cow-a-Bunga is featuring the Bunga Pizza — one dip of ice cream on a giant cookie with one topping, whipped cream, a cherry and nuts. The Bunga Pizza is only $4.75. That will leave you with money for one of the many Cow-a-Bunga beverages — espressos, mochas, lattes, smoothies, Italian sodas and more.

Cow-a-Bunga is at 10 Evergreen Avenue, Suite E, and Seacoast Drive, at the foot of the Imperial Beach Pier. This must-try Big Bay favorite is open year round, 8:30 a.m. to sunset.

Stop by and enjoy a-Bunga.
